Subject: Aug ’21 - Headwaters Group Conservation Committee Report
Colorado Beaver Summit
- Brian has reached out to a non-profit organization called Colorado Headwaters that is putting on a two-day virtual summit about beavers, science and national policy in October. The Colorado Sierra Club is already a sponsor. For more information (including the program) and to register for this webinar ($25 fee) go to coloradobeaversummit.org
- The focus for this event (capacity 3000 participants!) on Day One is a brief overview of the 10 Western States and the Colorado program. On Day Two the focus is on state and federal agencies and their policies.
- The Headwaters Group will be working with our Chapter to plan how we can work together between now and the Colorado Beaver Summit to the best promote beaver education and conservation policies
Beaver Education Resources
- Our friends at Defenders of Wildlife have put together several beaver educational resources and programs that should be of interest to “beaver believers”:
- And there is a Beaver Restoration Guidebook you can download from the US Fish and Wildlife Service (Version 2, Apr 2018)
- And for more information about how Colorado researchers are eager to show how beavers are critical to improving watersheds in the West, check out this recent article in the Colorado Sun
