Collaboration is one of the hallmarks of the environmental community. As the largest volunteer environmental organization, the Sierra Club has assumed a leadership role in supporting the efforts of organizations within this community. This represents a partial listing of such organizations in the Hudson Valley. It may not be fully comprehensive, but we hope this list provides our members with helpful access and information.
Climate Smart Communities (CSC) is a New York State program that helps local governments take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to a changing climate. The program offers grants, rebates for electric vehicles, and free technical assistance. Registered communities have made a commitment to act by passing the CSC pledge. Certified communities are the foremost leaders in the state; they have gone beyond the CSC pledge by completing and documenting a suite of actions that mitigate and adapt to climate change at the local level. Many of our communities in the Mid-Hudson Group participate in the CSC program. Check here to see if your community is a participant.
