We’re Moving Forward

We're Moving Forward

In 2024, your support powered grassroots activism, community education, vital conservation programs, and outings programs. Take a look at some of the accomplishments that you helped shape this year:

  • Thousands of people attended soul-changing hikes, backpacking adventures and other excursions led by our outings leaders.
  • We invested in the next generation of climate leaders with our 2nd cohort of the Activist Academy that equips emerging young advocates to explore careers and serve as local leaders in our campaigns and environmental movement.
  • We helped establish the western half of the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument.
  • We protected vital safeguards against the expansion of oil drilling including engaging the public to put pressure on Big Oil to drop a 2024 ballot initiative that would have allowed them to drill more and drill closer to people’s homes.
  • We won for clean air with South Coast Air Quality Management District requirements to transition large water heaters and boilers in homes and buildings to zero-emission alternatives.

This is incredible momentum and a true testament of what we can accomplish together.

As we finish out the year, I am reminded that the stronger we close out 2024 financially, the stronger we are in moving forward. Amidst the uncertainty of several tough challenges that may be in front of us, your unwavering support is truly a beacon of hope.  While the Angeles Chapter remains steadfast in our mission to protect the environment, advocate for all communities, and push for policies that safeguard our planet, we can’t do it alone.

Especially now. We already feel the urgency pushing timelines and budgets to the edge.

In looking at our vision for land protections and access, there are very real threats that we will be up against even more so in January. We don’t want our land exploited and we certainly don’t want to halt efforts to expand protections in our most treasured outdoor spaces. We don’t want to see the clock turned back on environmental harms that hurt black and brown communities disproportionately. We don’t want to see hard-fought regulations that have improved people’s health and well-being be trashed along with the notion that clean air and water is a right.

We have so much work to do.

Right now, we need to escalate the trajectory of many of our campaigns, getting ahead of pending threats to our work.

To be candid, we need your financial help to strengthen our conservation efforts and keep our progress moving forward.

Please join us in harnessing the power of our shared hope and unwavering dedication to land access and conservation.  Here are some of the more critical campaigns where your donation will be put to work:

  • Secure a commitment from the federal government to create the Northern Angeles Forest National Monument.
  • Increase access to nature and invest in improvements like Forest Service staff, multilingual signage, add more trash cans in places like the Northern Angeles National Forest and East Fork River in the San Gabriel Valley.
  • Further develop equitable access to the outdoors by advocating that local agencies prioritize transit-to-trails routes.

Every dollar helps. 100% of your gift stays in Los Angeles and Orange County and helps with programs and campaigns that donors trust us to preserve.

Please consider making a meaningful year-end gift today at sc.org/AngVictory2024 or send a check to: Sierra Club Angeles Chapter, 617 W 7th Street, Suite 702, Los Angeles, CA 90017

Together, we can turn the page on uncertainties. Thank you for moving forward with us.
