Volunteer - Share the Club's Rich History with Yosemite Visitors

Yosemite Conservation Heritage Center

The Yosemite Conservation History Center (YCHC) is a National Historic Landmark building that represents the rich heritage of the Sierra Club in Yosemite Valley. The Sierra Club still operates the iconic structure as a public education and visitor center, presenting and promoting the conservation ethic through public programs, educational displays, a publicly-accessible library, and interactive programs for kids and families.

Since 1904, a curator and Sierra Club volunteers have provided information to park visitors about Yosemite, the Sierra Nevada, and the National Parks. Each year the YCHC welcomes over 16,000 people to the Club's spiritual home in the Yosemite Valley and volunteers are needed to assist with interpretation during the season that begins May 3 and ends September 30, 2023.

Inside the Yosemite Conservation Heritage Center is a library and other educational displays

The YCHC is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 am until 4 pm. Volunteers receive free entrance into YNP during the volunteer week, free shared camping at the designated campsite, and free showers. Monday and Tuesday are free days to explore the Park. Volunteers bring their own tents, food, and supplies. The YCHC is not able to accommodate family, friends or pets.

Continue to carry on the Sierra Club tradition of helping others appreciate and protect our natural environment for the 2023 seaon. Please contact Bonnie Gisel at 209 347-7300 or Bonnie.Gisel@sierraclub.org.
