Chapter Chair Shares Priorities for 2022

Dyana Peña, who in December was selected by her peers to serve the remainder of Dennis Loya’s term as Chapter Chair (through 2022) shares her priorities for the year ahead.

Joy in Our Work: These continued and increasingly difficult times have reminded me of the importance of intentionally bringing more care and joy to the work we do. As the issues we tackle are becoming more complex, I am hopeful that our Chapter will be able to meet these challenges with a renewable source of energy fueled by our passion, joy, and collective care for one another and our environment.

Sierra Club Core Values: I am hopeful that with the incorporation of our new Sierra Club Core Values internally and externally, our work will become more effective and our Chapter’s voice will become more powerful.

Supporting Members in Connecting Outdoors: The past couple of years have brought new barriers to our outings programs. I am optimistic that by approaching these new challenges creatively and incorporating values in equity and justice, we will be able to continue to reignite our strong outings programs, engage our community members more, grow our Chapter, and save more of our beautiful world.
