West Hollywood City Council unanimously passes single-use plastic ban ordinance!
On January 18, 2021 representatives from the Sierra Club, Angeles Chapter Sustainability Committee provided public comment in support of the single-use plastic ban ordinance. This was championed by your passion and voice - and our voice was heard!
The City Council Members and Mayor unanimously passed this ordinance, and the good news doesn’t end there. The ordinance was passed implementing our recommended language to ban all non-BPI certified compostable plastics AND putting the ban into effect beginning January 1st, 2023, a full six months earlier than originally suggested!
We could not be more grateful and appreciative of your support in this effort and are proud to share this collective win with you as it creates real-world change to reduce waste and protect our planet.
However, our work does not end here. With your help, we will continue the fight for positive change for our environment and communities as we build a more sustainable future for all.
