Check out the Angeles 20s and 30s Section

The 20s and 30s Section is a group of 20 and 30 somethings interested in meeting new friends in the greater Los Angeles area while enjoying the outdoors through hiking, camping, backpacking, beach-combing, playing volleyball and other fun experiences.  We like to have fun, but we also want to stay safe. For that reason, each hike is reviewed by our organization before posting to make sure there are at least two qualified volunteer leaders trained in CPR and basic First Aid are involved. Furthermore we ask that all hikers stay grouped between the leaders so that no one is left behind or goes the wrong way.

A sampling of events from the past include a wine-and-cheese hike outside of Westlake Village, car-camping trips to Death Valley and Yosemite, a trip to Costa Rica, whitewater rafting on the Kern River, kayaking on Morro Bay, sailing cruises to the Channel Islands, and hiking through the Antelope Valley to see the wildflowers in bloom.

We have also instituted several virtual events for our members to enjoy during the stay-at-home order. We hold virtual book club meetings approximately once a month, reading and discussing books related to our love of the great outdoors, as well as virtual happy hours and workshops to share our favorite hikes, discuss backpacking necessities, and share tips for cooking in the great outdoors.

Our section is also committed to protecting the special places we hike in. We share information on easy actions members can take to protect threatened areas in the local mountains, such as writing letters to key decision-makers.

Membership in the Section is free, and only requires a few minutes of your time to complete our online registration form. By registering, we will get a better idea of the demographics of our members, enabling us to plan events tailored to our members' interests. Or you are welcome to join us at our events if you'd like to first check out what we are all about. We hope to see you at an outing soon!
