DONATE YOUR CAR OR OTHER VEHICLE
GET A TAX DEDUCTION

The Angeles Chapter has teamed with the Sierra Club Foundation in partnership with CARS™, a national vehicle donation program. The program is a great opportunity for donors to get rid of old, polluting vehicles they no longer use while helping to clean our air and protect the environment.

CARS™ will accept almost anything that is in one piece and towable from any location in the continental United States — cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs, trailers, boats, planes, ATVs, even farm equipment. Customer service representatives are available seven days a week and more than 1,000 vendors across the United States are available to pick up donations for free at a convenient time and location. Cars that get less than 27 miles per gallon will be recycled. Classic cars, and cars with a gas mileage of 27 MPG and over, will be sold at auction.

Donations are tax deductible and donors will receive a receipt from the towing vendor, as well as an IRS form within 30 days of the sale if the contribution exceeds $500.

OTHER WAYS TO GIVE TO THE SIERRA CLUB FOUNDATION

The Sierra Club Foundation offers a variety of ways to give, depending on what works best for any individual donor, including gifts of cash, stock, bonds, real estate, or other assets. The Foundation is also happy to assist donors who want to make a charitable commitment from wills, living trusts, or other estate plans. Most gifts qualify for maximum tax advantage under federal law.  For more information and to make a tax-deductible donation online, go to angeles.sierraclub.org/scf.

By law, the Sierra Club Foundation retains control and discretion/variance power over all charitable funds received, including how they are disbursed within the purposes for which they were contributed; the Foundation reserves the unilateral right to select those recipients or beneficiaries it believes will best accomplish those purposes. Accordingly, funds that may remain after a specific purpose has been achieved or is no longer necessary or feasible will be used to support programs that the Foundation determines are reasonably similar to the intended purpose for which donated. Such funds may be directed to the organization to which originally directed or a similar program or another organization within the general mission of the Sierra Club Foundation.

The Sierra Club Foundation is tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and gifts to the Foundation are tax-deductible under Section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) of the Code. IRS regulations require that you retain a written acknowledgement from the Foundation to support your claim of a tax deduction. A receipt of your gift will be mailed to you shortly. The Foundation confirms that you received no goods or services in return for your gift..
