Events on Earth Day and beyond

Show your green side! Here are some free and ticketed events on Earth Day and beyond.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 22: Join Sierra Club, Mayor Eric Garcetti and Councilman Tom LaBonge for an Earth Day event in Griffith Park that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act. The event is free and open to the public; please RSVP to (213) 387-4287. Details here.

11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on April 22: Sierra Club will be participating at Earth Day at the AON Center at 707 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles. Come face to face with the Gold-certified LEED building and visit environmentally friendly vendors at booths during the event.

11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 22: Earth Day at 7th and Figueroa in downtown Los Angeles. The event takes place at 725 S. Figueroa from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Free parking in the Target lot.

2 to 5 p.m. on April 23: Honey Bee Festival at Santa Monica College (1900 Pico Blvd. in Santa Monica). Here's a free event to learn about honeybees -- and why they matter for the planet's healthy habitat -- as well as learn more about sustainability.

11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on April 22 and April 24: USC Earth Day runs from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the University Park Campus on April 22 and at the Health and Science Campus in Alhambra on April 24. In these celebrations, USC showcases Sierra Club and other environmentally-conscious organizations in the greater Los Angeles community.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 26 and 27: Earth Day Expo at the L.A. Zoo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 26 and 27. Free parking; events are free to zoo ticketholders.

8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 17: Malibu Adventure Games at Malibu Creek State Park in the Santa Monica Mountains. Join a trail race, walk or biking event for an awersome outdoors event.

10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 18: WorldFest 2014 at Woodley Park (6350 Woodley Ave., Lake Balboa; 1 mile west of the 405 Freeway between Burbank and Victory boulevards) will be the site of the compassionate living and music festival that will be filled with entertainment, education and enlightenment.
