John Muir was born April 21, 1838, in Dunbar, Scotland. Come mark the Sierra Club founder's birthday on an April 19 hike. Three hikes of varying difficulty converge on -- where else? -- John Muir Peak in the Angeles National Forest. These hikes also celebrate the anniversary of official naming of Muir Peak, east of Inspiration Point, above Altadena. Learn the history of Muir's visit to Pasadena, trekking in the local mountains and his first ascent in 1877.
