Think you can't compost without a backyard? Try worm composting, also known as vermicomposting. Mix worms, newspaper strips, some dirt with fruit and vegetable scraps in a bin and you will have your own portable and convenient compost pile!

Did you know: In the natural environment, a banana peel takes about 3-5 weeks to fully decompose. In a landfill, the decomposition process slows down because of lack of oxygen, which creates methane as an unwanted by-product.

Did you know that dryer lint is compostable? Dryer lint consists of natural fibers from clothing. Very small to zero amounts of synthetic materials are found in lint.

Did you know that yard trimmings from your green bin actually end up in the landfill with the rest of your trash? Most cities in Los Angeles and Orange County use yard trimmings and organic waste as alternative daily cover, which means that they are placed on top of the landfill at the end of each day, only to be covered up later by more incoming trash. Volunteer to help us curb this issue!
