Angeles Chapter members gathered May 5 at the Brookside Country Club in Pasadena to celebrate the achievements of some really fine volunteers. Guests mingled at the pre-dinner reception to the sounds of guitar music, engaging in friendly discussions and greeting old friends.
Fran Pavley, who represents California's 27th State Senate district which includes portions of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, delivered an impassioned keynote address about the attack on the environment and what important bonds she has made with the Sierra Club in fighting battles on behalf of the environment.
Executive Committee chair Carole Mintzer performed as master of ceremonies and was joined by Senior Chapter Director Ron Silverman who presented awards and kept guests entertained throughout the evening.
Big thanks go to the entities that sponsored the reception: Crescenta Valley Group, Orange County Sierra Singles Section, Sierra Sage-South Orange County Group, L.A. Sierra Singles Section, 20s & 30s Section, West Los Angeles Group, Backpacking Committee, Wilderness Travel Course and donors who wished to remain anonymous. And many thanks to all the donors for the Silent Auction; your contributions were really appreciated and helped raise $2,000 for the Chapter.
Thanks too to Donna Specht for such an outstanding job putting the event together and Mary Ann Webster, who outdid herself with a very successful silent auction .
Congratulations to all the awardees this year. Check /about_us/chapter_awards/last_years_awards for a complete list.
