Vision Zero - Safe Streets for Columbus

What is Vision Zero? Vision Zero is a strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all.
It's a proven traffic safety strategy that uses a combination of engineering and policy improvements to achieve a road system that will have zero fatalities and safety.

Why is it a moral issue: People are dying and having life-changing injuries that are preventable.
How does this relate to the Sierra Club? Like the Sierra Club, We believe that pedestrians, bicycles, and all other forms of transportation should be able to travel safely and be treated equally. We advocate for the rapid adoption of the Vision Zero safe streets strategy by the City of Columbus. That's why we are partnering with the Transportation committee to get the city of Columbus to adopt this strategy.

Three main Takeaways

1. Proven traffic safety for all people.

2. To reduce all traffic-related fatalities to zero.

3. It's a moral imperative to adopt vision zero to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries because life and health can not be exchanged for other conveniences in modern society.
