On Saturday June 5th, participate in National Trails Day and be an outdoor activist. Get outside and enjoy green spaces near you and take action to help make state parks and other public lands more accessible to all. Sign up for this event and we will send you updates and ideas to make your National Trails Day fun and rewarding as well as safe!
We have put together a day pack of actions to expand access to parks and public lands. Do one or do them all! Your Virtual Day Pack for Action! Sign up HERE to get more information for the event. We will send updates and ideas for how to make your National Trails Day fun, rewarding, and safe.
Here's what you can do on National Trails Day:
- Take a hike or bike ride on your favorite trail or walk in your neighborhood
- Sign our petition to support an Every Kid Outdoor pass for WI state parks. The Every Kid Outdoors pass is a program hosted by the federal government that could be extended to WI state parks. And once you sign the petition, spread the word to any 4th graders and their families that you know. Here is a website where 4th graders can sign up for the pass. Right now, the pass is good for National Park properties across the country.
- Take the Dane County parks accessibility survey. We want to know how we can improve park access in Dane County.
- Join us at our next next Land Equity Access Team meeting will take place on June 21st from 5 - 6 pm and will focus on reaching out to allies and other advocates and our national Trails Day campaign. Your ideas are welcome! If you are interested in joining us or would like more information, please fill out our interest form linked HERE!
