Local Issues

Below are some of the major environmental issues our group is currently focusing on.

Data Centers

Our region has seen a huge influx of data center applications over the past year. They guzzle energy and water, and are noisy. To help combat the harm they can cause, we've held three informational sessions for the public and made environmentally sound suggestions to your local government. However, there is still more work that needs to be done.

Single Use Plastic/Recycling

Our world is drowning in single use plastics. As individuals, we can cut down on our own use of unnecessary plastic, such as single use plastic bags. We've given out countless reusable bags that people can bring with them.

Another way to combat the harm caused by waste is through recycling. The local recycling system can be complicated so it's important to stay informed. Our group has taken trips to the Stafford County Regional Landfill and the Chesterfield TFC to learn more about it.

River Health

The health of the Potomac River is important for maintaining its natural beauty and the health of the wildlife that relies on it. Each year, we take trips to clean up trash along the riverbank.
