Earth Day Houston and the Houston Sierra Club

The first post-COVID Houston Sierra Club table at Discovery Green on April 10, 2022 was a success!

Houston Sierra Club volunteers unearthed the banners and supplies and unveiled them for Earth Day. Many thanks to Melanie Oldham and Linda Mundwiller for setting up and working at the Houston Sierra Club table. Also thanks to Devika Taneja for helping and taking photos, and to Frank Blake who attended to assess this year's event, and network with other area groups.

Linda talked to the Houston Operating Site Director of the Texas Conservation Corps (TXCC). She also got vegan recipes from Plant Pure of Houston, good for us and for the planet, and native wildflower seeds from TXCC partners Armand Bayou Nature Center and Houston Audubon, so she can help the bees, the birds, and the butterflies.

A wonderful wild bird demonstration was one of the highlights, with live owls.

Frank Blake visited with COH Solid Waste, Houston METRO, Hermann Park Conservancy, Audubon, SPLASH, GBRC, and some folks from Austin with the Texas Climate Jobs Project who may be working on electric school bus adoption in the Houston area next fall.
