There are fourteen trail head parking lots serving the Lone Star Hiking Trail in the Sam Houston Forest. The volunteer work to improve the parking lots began in June 2021, and was recently completed.

Celebrate Earth Day at Discovery Green on April 10 with entertainment, activities, and a wide spectrum of environmental education. This is a community centered, family friendly event open to the public and free to all.

On Saturday, March 12, 2022, the Houston Sierra Club hiked 4.5 miles on the Lone Star Hiking Trail (LSHT) for the first time in 25 months.

The COVID-19 crisis has not passed and continues to disproportionately harm Black, Indigenous, and Latinx people and other communities of color. The pandemic has revealed how the communities hardest hit are often the same communities that suffer from high levels of pollution and poor access to healthcare. The fight for environmental justice cannot be separated from the fight for racial justice. |
