Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary Celebrates 30 Years!

The Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary, founded in 1992, is the only U.S. marine sanctuary site located in the Gulf of Mexico, situated 80 to 125 miles off the coasts of Texas and Louisiana.

Buffalo Bayou Flooding

On January 18, the Katy Prairie Conservancy convened an Environmental Roundtable to receive input on the Buffalo Bayou Community Plan that it is developing in cooperation with the non-profit Houston Stronger to address flooding in the Buffalo Bayou Watershed.

More Columbia Bottomlands Saved With Almost 5,000 Acres Acquired for San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge

The Sierra Club heard great news recently! The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has acquired 4,628 acres of Columbia Bottomlands Forest to add to the San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge.

You can still upload your old photos to previous outings, or walk some trails on your own, while maintaining a safe physical distance from others.

The COVID-19 crisis has not passed and continues to disproportionately harm Black, Indigenous, and Latinx people and other communities of color. The pandemic has revealed how the communities hardest hit are often the same communities that suffer from high levels of pollution and poor access to healthcare. The fight for environmental justice cannot be separated from the fight for racial justice.
