Bay Area Sierra Club Meeting: The Lubrizol Accident and Chemical Release Issues

The October meeting will be conducted via Zoom.

October 20 Program:
The Lubrizol Accident of August 15th, and Related Chemical Release Issues
 
Dr. Kevin Beard and Loretta Beard will discuss a recent chemical release at the Lubrizol Corp plant in La Porte, the impacts on Bay Area communities, and efforts to better inform the public about such incidents. 
Mr. Craig Hill, the Emergency Response Manager with Harris County Pollution Control is also expected to participate and discuss the County's role.
 
Kevin Beard holds a PhD in experimental nuclear physics from Michigan State University and is currently a member of the Space Radiation Analysis Group at NASA Johnson Space Center; the group’s purpose is to protect astronauts from the effects of space radiation. Loretta Beard holds a BS in both physics & psychology and is retired from the Physics Dept. of Hampton University where they first met.
