This past May, Bike Houston organized the online Houston Bike Summit 2021, which featured five separate speaker and presentation events covering various aspects of building out bike infrastructure in the Houston area. One event was a conversation with Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, and another was a presentation by transportation planner Manuel Calvo, who was instrumental in building a bike lane network in Seville, Spain. Video recordings of these Bike Summit events are now posted at the Bike Houston YouTube site.
The final event, What's on Tap? Bike Infrastructure in the Pipeline, was of particular interest, as it features presentations describing eight different area bike projects, which are listed below. These projects cover a range of locations, neighborhoods, street configurations, etc. Each bike project has to be planned to address specific local goals and site situations. These presentations provide an overview of what is planned, and the considerations and issues that can be involved.
