June Program: A Trip to Antarctica
Marion and Harry Hulen will share photos and lore learned from their trip to Antarctica in 2019.
Some facts:
• A treaty signed by 54 countries governs and protects Antarctica
• About 90% of the world’s fresh water is contained in Antarctica ice
• Antarctic krill, a tiny shrimp-like animal, comprises the greatest mass of any animal
• There are no native land animals
• By 1830 the Antarctic fur seals were on the verge of extinction after millions were hunted and killed
Bay Area Sierrans have been working on a Flower & Pollinator Photo Project.
Photos are viewable at the Bay Area Sierra Club Houston Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/bayareasierraclubhouston/
Bay Area meetings are on the 3rd Wednesday of the month and start at 6:30 pm for social time; speaker and discussion are from 7-8:30 pm.
