“Virtual Public Hearing on Region H Water Plan Scheduled”
By Ken Kramer, Water Resources Chair, Lone Star Chapter, Sierra Club
In another move to help folks in the Houston region “stay safe at home,” the Region H Water Planning Group has canceled the in-person public hearings on the draft revised Region H water plan (known as the Region H Initially Prepared Plan or IPP) and scheduled a public hearing via webinar and telephone conference call. [See the edition of The Water Column posted to the Houston Sierra Club Group website in late March and included in the April Bayou Banner for background on the regional water planning process.]
The webinar / telephone conference call will begin at 6 PM on April 23 and is anticipated to conclude at 8 PM. Full information on the public hearing and the option for participating via the webinar or monitoring the hearing via conference call is provided in the revised public hearing notice found on the Region H website at http://regionhwater.org/meetings/documents/Notice_20200423_Hearing.pdf. As stated in the notice: “If you choose to participate via the webinar link…, you WILL have the opportunity to provide comments during the designated portion of the meeting.”
Public comments on the Region H IPP may also be submitted in writing or via email by 5 PM on June 28. Instructions on how and where to submit written comments are included in the notice.
Those folks who would like a preview of the slide presentation that will be shown as part of the webinar on April 23 will find that presentation on the Region H website at:

The full text of the Region H IPP is available online through a link in the notice of the public hearing.
The Water Column will provide some key points about the Region H water plan and links to an information sheet and suggested comments on the IPP prior to the April 23 public hearing. Check the Houston Sierra Club Group website early in the week of April 20 for the next Breaking Waves Update.
