Election time is near for Houston Sierra Club (HSC) members!    In December, yearly elections for our Executive Committee (ExCom) will occur.  The ExCom is the governing body for the HSC, sets conservation and other policy for our Group, operates and maintains the HSC, and consists of 9 members, who serve staggered, two-year terms.  

A Nominating Committee (NomCom) of Carol Woronow, Jennie Rohrer, and Brandt Mannchen was recently appointed by the ExCom to consider, find, and nominate willing HSC members in good standing as candidates who will run for ExCom positions.  Democracy in action!!!  

For the election, the HSC will have five total positions for its membership to vote on and fill.  Four of those positions are for two-year terms (2020-2021) and one position is for a one-year term (2020) that fills out an unexpired term created by the resignation of an ExCom member earlier this year.

The NomCom will select which potential HSC member candidates will be on the election ballot.  In addition, any HSC member can submit a petition, signed by 25 HSC members, for a willing HSC member in good standing, and that person will be placed on the election ballot as a candidate.

If there is a willing HSC member in good standing that you know who would make a good potential candidate for HSC ExCom or if you would like to be a candidate, the NomCom needs a short bio, statement about why the person wants to be on the ExCom, and a phone number and email.  Send this information to Brandt Mannchen at:  brandtshnfbt@juno.com or 20923 Kings Clover Court, Humble, Texas 77346.
