October 11, 2018 — CEER, the Coalition for Environment, Equity, & Resilience

Bakeyah Nelson, Executive Director of Air Alliance Houston, will discuss CEER, the Coalition for Environment, Equity, & Resilience, and will relate the Coalition's mission and history, as well as recent activities and the next steps for the coalition.
CEER aims to drive community voices into the post-Hurricane Harvey decision-making process to promote equity and resilience by emphasizing land, water, air, waste, and housing policies that reduce human exposure to pollution and strengthen environmental conservation
The event is free and open to the public at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 1805 West Alabama, Houston. Main program starts 7:30 PM. Doors open 7:00 PM.

A riparian woodland (riparian area, buffer, vegetation, zone, forest; streamside management zone; streamside zone; bottomland hardwood forest, etc.) is composed of the vegetated area on both sides of a stream that is under the influence of the stream from a surface/groundwater and geomorphology (geology/stream shaping) perspective.

Cavities-Photo

A den tree is a living tree that has enough decay that a cavity (hole) has developed in the tree. This is usually a hardwood trees and the decay is usually caused by a fungus. Injury to the tree, which allows the fungus access to create the den, is caused by insect attack, lighting strike, drought, flood, equipment scraping the bark, falling tree, or other action that physically injures a tree.
