Social Media Volunteers Wanted
The Houston Sierra Club is looking for one more part-time volunteer to join our social media team to help keep our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages updated with current news, events, and photos related to our activities in the Greater Houston area.
No experience is necessary. Open to anyone with a passion for keeping on top of local environmental issues and an interest in learning more about making the best use of social media, who is able give even a low, but consistent, time commitment. Forestery Volunteers Wanted
The Houston Sierra Club is looking for volunteers who have a love of and interest in the protection of federal forests. These federal forests include the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas, Big Thicket National Preserve, and the Columbia Bottomland forests in Brazoria and San Bernard National Wildlife Refuges.
Goals of the federal forest protection program are: 1) Reduction of environmentally harmful activities; 2) Gain knowledge about, get to know, and educate others about forests; 3) Support collaboration, administrative actions, and lawsuits; 4) Communicate the Sierra Club position for management of forests; 5) Document the status of forests; 6) Monitor and assess environmental impacts; and 7) Enjoy, have fun, and socialize while working to protect forests.
Jobs that need to be filled include: article writers, photographers, tablers, outings leaders, social media users, administrative and legislative lobbyists, letter writers, etc.
