How You Can Volunteer for the Sierra Club

Houston Sierra Club members often ask how they can help the Houston Sierra Club.  They want to know how they can participate in the good work that the Houston Sierra Club does.  There is a very simple answer.

Throughout Houston and the surrounding counties there are many opportunities to do volunteer outdoor service work.  These opportunities include trach pick-ups along rivers, parks, beaches, and other public lands; construction and maintenance of trails for hikers, bikers, walker, runners, and others; planting or picking wildflower seeds; planting trees; and similar outdoor activities.

Go ahead and volunteer for these activities.  When you do, sign-in as a member of the Houston Sierra Club.  Tell the people who organize the event that you have volunteered on behalf of the Houston Sierra Club.  In this way, you spread the word about the Houston Sierra Club and show that we participate in positive experiences outdoors.  You also show that the Houston Sierra Club is everywhere.  Visibility is important for the Houston Sierra Club.  Your good works as a volunteer for service projects show that the Houston Sierra Club cares about and is active in our community.

There are many worthy organizations that need volunteer help to protect our lands and waters.  When you volunteer and tell them you are a Houston Sierra Club member, you help them and the Houston Sierra Club.  It is a simple but effective thing to do.  So just do it!  You will feel better and our community and the Houston Sierra Club will prosper because you care.  See you outdoors!
