It is easier now to recycle plastic bags. Curbside recycling collection does not accept plastic bags or plastic film, but fortunately more retailers are offering recycling drop offs for both of these plastic categories.  To find the retailers or facilities closest to you, use the search engine at Earth 911 (link below).  Enter the item you wish to recycle, e.g. plastic bags, and then enter your zip code.  Retailers or facilities are listed and each location should list the plastic types accepted (#1- #7). Some accept a wide variety of plastic bag types, e.g. HEB stores, and others only accept plastic #2 and #4. Most plastic bags have the plastic type printed somewhere on the bag.  Look for the number (1-7) inside the ‘recycling’ triangle symbol.

The City of Houston also offers plastic bag recycling at the Westpark recycling drop off, but most likely there is a local retailer than is more convenient.
