Political Action Committee (PAC) donations
Because of election financing laws, the Sierra Club can't spend money to advocate for or against candidates beyond its membership. When the Sierra Club resources are used to promote candidates, the Sierra Club must be reimbursed for that usage by a PAC. The Tennessee Sierra Club Political Committee (TSCPC) has been created to provide that reimbursement.
Only donations made to TSCPC--not to the Sierra Club itself--can be spent to support the great candidates whom we have endorsed using Sierra Club resources.
TSCPC makes the Chapter's supporter list and Voter Action Network (VAN) available to Chapter-endorsed non-federal candidates.
We can accept only credit cards and checks -- no cash -- due to reporting complexities for cash.

There are no limits to the amount of a contribution that may be made to a PAC, so don't feel constrained. Foreign nationals may not contribute. If you contribute more than $100 to TSCPC, the Committee is required to use its best efforts to collect and publicly disclose on campaign finance reports your name, address, occupation and employer, as well as the date and amount of your contribution.
Contributions to TSCPC are not tax deductible.
Please note that the national Sierra Club also has a PAC, the Sierra Club Independent Action, https://www.sierraclubindependentaction.org/, which supports federal candidates (US House, Senate and President). There are different financing rules for national elections; please go to their website for more information.
