Tennessee Chapter Fall 2019 Fun Retreat
October 25th thru 27th
Pickett CCC Memorial State Park
Join the Tennessee Chapter of the Sierra Club as we host the Fall Fun Retreat. Meet old friends or make new ones. Sierra members and their friends from around the state will be there. Please come and share the experience. Bring your friends.
Location
The park is located approximately 12 miles northeast of Jamestown TN on State Highway 154/Pickett Park Highway.
Registration, socializing, discussions, meetings, Saturday and Sunday Breakfast and Saturday dinner as well as the Silent Auction are all held at the Group Lodge.
If ou are staying with us overnight you can pitch a tent in the nearby fields, park an RV (no hookups), or stay in a bunkhouse. There a number of bunkhouses available. One will be designated Men's and other Women's. We will also have separate bunkhouses available for families with children.
Friday Activities
After 4:00 PM
This is a time to check in, meet old friends and make new ones, and settle into lodging.
8:00 PM
Campfire
Since this is Halloween weekend, we will have a campfire that will allow trick-or-treating with story-telling, snacks (think s'mores), and decorations.
Saturday Activities

Hike to Maude's Crack, John Muir Overlook, Boyatt Farm loop. 5 miles, rated moderate.

Ron Shrieves, Chapter Outings Chair will provide Outdoor Leader Training 101, Part 1. Contact Ron at ronshrieves@gmail.com for details.

Youth activities including crafts, outdoor games, short hike on Hidden Passage Trail depending on interest.

Hike to Pogue Creek Canyon State Natural Area, adjacent to Pickett SP a short distance away. 3 mile loop rated easy.

Basic first aid and CPR training for outings leaders. Contact Mac Post at mpost3116@gmail.com if you will be taking the first aid/CPR training. Please indicate whether this is your first time, or a renewal of current certification you took in the past 2 years.

Wildflowers of Tennessee - State Naturalist Randy Hedgepath brings us a picture and folklore program about the wildflowers that decorate the forests and fields of Tennessee. Learn some flowers and hear some fun stories!

Campfire and Stargazing. This weekend will be a new moon – ideal for stargazing.
Sunday Activities

Hike to Twin Arches in Big South Fork NRRA. Out and back, 2 miles rated easy. This hike will complete Outdoor Leader Training 101 part 2.
Rates
Unfortunately we have no provision for accepting retreat fees on-line or on credit cards. Please pay by check or cash when you check in.
- Adult registration fee (16 years and older) covers lodging (women's dorms, men's dorms), 2 breakfasts, and Saturday lunch and dinner.
- Early Bird Discount (by October 16) - $50
- Late registration (after October 16) - $60
- First Chapter retreat attendees - $25
- Students - $15
- Sat Only - (registration, lunch, dinner) - $30
- Sun Only - (registration, breakfast, no lodging) - $10
- Youth under 16 – No Charge
Registration
The retreat begins 4 PM Friday and ends at 2 PM on Sunday. Please register at this link and let us know you are coming. All Retreat participants will be required to sign the standard Sierra Club outings liability waiver when checking in at the retreat location. Click here to see the waiver form.
Any attendee under the age of 18 not accompanied by parent or legal guardian must have the signed liability waiver and "Medical Treatment Authorization & Consent Form" upon arrival. Both forms can be printed from these links.
