Writing a good letter to the editoroften referred to as an LTEis a valuable tool in our toolbox of organizing efforts. Not sure where to start? We've got you covered.

Why Letters to the Editor (LTEs)?

When working to protect both people and the planet, there are a LOT of ways we could spend our time. So why should we write letters?

  1. While newspapers are not as influential as they once were, the opinion section is still one of the most viewed for both local and national newspapers.
  2. Decision makers, from politicians to business owners, pay attention to what's said about them in the news. That makes LTEs one of the best ways to make sure your campaign target hears your message.
  3. Not all letters get published, but the simple act of writing a letter can help you hone your writing ability.

Telling a campaign or issue story in a compelling and concise manner is useful in all aspects of our work.
