As the Morocco climate conference—known officially as the 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP22) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)—gets underway this week, you may be wondering how best to follow the talks from afar.

COP22, which opens tomorrow in Marrakesh and wraps up on November 18, will bring together all the leading environmental and international affairs experts from around the world to deliberate and assess progress in dealing with climate change.

For those unable to experience the conference firsthand, Twitter offers a variety of ways to go about it virtually. Many of the major players at this year’s conference will be tweeting throughout the two-week event, not to mention journalists covering the conference live. The UNFCCC and COP22 both have official Twitter handles of their own that will be providing updates as the action is happening.

We’ve compiled a list of the best Twitter handles to follow so that you can stay updated throughout the conference.

UNFCCC- @UNFCCC

The official Twitter account of the United Nations climate change secretariat. Their objective is to “stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that will prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system.” The UNFCCC is made up of 197 parties, including all the UN member states and some additional parties. UNFCCC’s Twitter account is sure to be extremely active throughout the two-week conference.

COP22- @COP22

This is the official Twitter of the conference itself. Following this one may seems obvious, but just make sure you’re following the “official” account. According to the COP22 website, “The conference will focus on action items in order to achieve the priorities of the Paris Agreement, especially related to adaptation, transparency, technology transfer, mitigation, capacity building, and loss and damages.” This Twitter account will keep you updated on the progress made in achieving these goals throughout the conference.

Patricia Espinosa- @PEspinosaC

Espinosa is the new executive secretary of the UNFCCC, so she’ll be a key player at the Morocco Conference. She was the minister of foreign affairs of Mexico from 2006 to 2012 and has been serving as ambassador of Mexico to Germany since 2012, a position she also held from 2001 to 2002. She has more than 30 years of experience at the highest levels in international relations, specializing in climate change, global governance, sustainable development, and protection of human rights. She tweets in both Spanish and English.

Salaheddine Mezouar- @Salahmezouar

Mezouar is the official COP22 president. He has been Morocco’s foreign affairs minister since October 2013 and previously headed the industry, trade, and “restructuring of the economy” ministry. He is not the most active on Twitter, but that will likely change once the conference gets going.

Hakima El Haité- @HElHaiteCop22

Hakima El Haité is minister delegate in charge of the Ministry of Energy, Mines, Water, and the Environment of Morocco since October 2013. She is an expert in environmental and sustainable development project management and has published several books and scientific articles on the subject. She will play a big role as a representative from the COP22 host nation. She’s already been tweeting about COP22 as Morocco prepares for the conference, mostly in French so far. She will likely tweet in multiple languages (including English) throughout the conference.

Laurence Tubiana- @LaurenceTubiana

Tubiana was lead negotiator of the 2015 Paris Agreement and worked alongside the president of COP21, Laurent Fabius. Tubiana was recognized for her contributions to the conference by being appointed the new climate champion, meaning she was put in charge of sustaining the momentum generated by the Paris Agreement; she will be replaced when a Moroccan climate champion is chosen after COP22.

Leonardo DiCaprio- @LeoDiCaprio

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio is well known for his commitment to environmental activism. He has announced that he will be participating in COP22 and presenting the premier of his new documentary on climate change, entitled Before the Flood, during the conference. In the documentary, DiCaprio journeys to meet scientists, impacted communities, and statesmen across the world seeking answers about the realities of climate change and witnessing them firsthand. DiCaprio is active on Twitter, and most of his tweeting revolves around environmentalism.
