Richard Nelson is a writer, activist, cultural anthropologist, and subsistence hunter who lives in southeast Alaska. His books include Make Prayers to the Raven (which became an award-winning PBS television series) and Hunters of the Northern Ice. Nelson's awards include the John Burroughs Medal for nature writing and a Lannan Literary Award for nonfiction.
