Welcome to the home page of the Northern Alameda County (NAC) Group

We are the largest of the eight groups in the San Francisco Bay Chapter, with more than 6600 members;  within our boundaries are seven cities—Albany, Berkeley, Oakland, Piedmont, Emeryville, Alameda and San Leandro—with a combined population of more than three-quarters of a million people. NAC is also home to numerous open spaces, including:

  • the Albany Bulb
  • McLaughlin Shoreline Park
  • Cesar Chavez Park
  • the Berkeley and Emeryville Marinas
  • Lake Merritt
  • Lake Chabot
  • Oyster Bay Shoreline
  • Crown Memorial State Beach
  • Tilden and Redwood Regional Parks and many more

The NAC Group is governed by a nine-member Executive Committee elected on a staggered basis to two-year terms. The current Chair is Max Davis and Vice Chair is Terry Taplin. For a full list of committees and leadership go to the NAC Group Leadership page.

NAC's ExCom meets online at 7:30 PM on the fourth Monday of every month, considering conservation actions, political endorsements and recommendations to higher-level Club entities. Before that p, at 6:30 PM, the Conservation Committee meets to discuss environmental issues of concern leading to official letters, suggestions for policy and positions, and meeting with local elected officials and staff. All are welcome! Email us at nac@sfbaysc.org.
