Speak Up for Clean Air!
Your voice is needed Friday 8/2 at the South Coast Air Quality Management District

Southern California is only a few steps away from establishing a first-of-its-kind rule to regulate the amount of pollution coming from the railyards used to ship products to our homes! The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), is having its big hearing on Friday, August 2nd to get communities' input on the rule.

We need to show up and make sure they get this right -- the health of our air and communities is at stake! Help us show up and speak up at the next SCAQMD hearing!

Join us at the SCAQMD hearing Friday 8/2 to fight for electrified rail yards and clean air!

Our actions now can make the difference we need to see in our future, where both our environment and communities are protected from pollution. Can't make it?

Sign our petition instead to make sure your input is still included!

Big business opponents of the Rail Indirect  Source Rule will be out in force for this hearing.  We need to show the AQMD that it is up to them to protect the health of our communities.

RSVP below and you will be contacted with more information about how you can make a difference by showing the SCAQMD that we all just want to breathe clean air!

We are aiming to ensure that the rail Indirect Source Rule sets the standard for improved rail emissions in the South Coast Air Basin, and becomes a model for the rest of the state and country.  Register to learn more about the rule and what we are asking for - such as more aggressive, facility wide emission reduction targets and requiring new rail yard facilities to start at ZE (Zero Emissions)  operations.

News From Sierra Club California -
EPA awards $500 million to South Coast Air Quality Management District

Yassi Kavezede with SCAQMD and Senator Alex Padilla

From Bobbi Jo Chavarria, Acting Director, Sierra Club CA

I am thrilled to announce that just this week the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded a grant of nearly $500 million to the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) for the development of heavy-duty electric vehicle charging infrastructure through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

Yassi Kavezade, Senior Campaign Advisor for the Clean Transportation for All  Campaign joined in the press conference on Monday, July 22, with Senator Alex Padilla and board members from the AQMD. This is a huge step forward in our efforts to reduce transportation emissions and transition to a cleaner energy future.
