Los Serranos Meeting 1/21

Heritage and Wild Trout Program

The monthly meeting of the Los Serranos Group of the Sierra Club is Tuesday, January 21, at 7:00 PM.  Our speaker will be Jennifer Hemmert. Jennifer is the current Wild Trout Biologist for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.  The meeting will be held in the Etiwanda Room at The Goldy S. Lewis Community Center, 11200 Base Line Road, Rancho Cucamonga.  New members and the public are welcome.  Click on the title "Los Serranos Meeting 1/21" above to see the rest of the description.

Jennifer Hemmert works under the Heritage and Wild Trout Program (HWTP) based out of Fisheries Branch in Sacramento. She works on projects to assess and to manage the trout populations of forested streams within Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. For the six previous years of her CDFW career, she managed reservoir and lake fisheries in these same two counties plus Imperial County, which included projects on the Colorado River.

Her talk is titled: What is Heritage Wild Trout... and how do I fit into this fishy situation?
Her presentation will be a montage of her describing:

1.    Her different types of projects, which don’t always mean fish are involved in them.
2.    What are some the ways that you can get involved as a Sierra Club participant (a.k.a as citizen scientist).
3.    Conservation message about an aquatic invasive species in the watershed that she works in.
