Hiking the PCT
The monthly meeting of the Los Serranos Group of the Sierra Club is Tuesday, May 21, at 7:00 PM. Our evening presentation will be by Mark Rush, who will talk about hiking the Southern California section of the Pacific Crest Trail. The meeting will be held in the Etiwanda Room at The Goldy S. Mark Rush is a Sierra Club member and serves on the executive committee of the Los Serranos Group. His presentation is about the 702 miles from the Mexican border to Kennedy Meadows on the PCT which constitutes the Southern California portion per the PCT Data Book. In the past 10 years Mark has section hiked this portion of the PCT with the Sierra Club, other friends, and by himself. The pictures in this presentation were taken by Mark while hiking and are of the deserts, mountains, geology, flora and fauna along the way, as well as some of the other PCT hikers he has met and hiked with. Mark has completed 1700 miles of the trail and has 950 to go mostly in Northern California and Oregon. Washington is almost completed. The PCT is 2650 miles total.
