Want to know more about some of the more venomous or noxious animals in our local mountains? Well you are in luck. Our May presentation will explore these creatures. Jeff Burkhart is an emeritus Professor of Biology from the University of La Verne that has devoted much of his career to the study of venomous and noxious animals. His undergraduate degree was in zoology, emphasizing invertebrates, and his graduate degree was in insect ecology. Additionally, he has had a long standing interest in reptiles and amphibians, and continues to conduct research in the San Gabriel Mountains on the diversity of these animals, some of which can be dangerous. He will focus his talk on both those that can be harmful directly as well as those that can transmit pathogens such as Lyme Disease and Salmonella.
