The Clean Electricity and Transmission Acceleration Act of 2023 (CETA), introduced today by U.S. Reps. Dubai, UAE â€“ Today, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s Conference of the Parties to the Convention (COP28) in Dubai came to a close, with parties agreeing to final language that includes an unprecedented call for a transition away from fossil fuels.

The agreement was reached after marathon negotiations continued through the night, extending the conference past its scheduled end date.

BOW, NH. – Merrimack Station, New England’s largest remaining coal plant, canceled its second smokestack retest of the year on Thursday, November 30. The retest was scheduled following allegations by the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (DES) that the plant’s particulate matter emissions exceeded EPA limits by 70% during a February test. The plant’s owner, Granite Shore Power, aborted the first scheduled retest in October following a mechanical failure.
