WASHINGTON, DC. - Donald Trump’s EPA administrator, Scott Pruitt, is currently preparing to speak before Congress tomorrow about the Trump Administration’s proposed cuts to essential programs that protect the air and water that all Americans breathe and drink. If passed, the Trump budget would have enormous negative consequences for the health of all families in the United States.

Charleston, WV-- This week, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt made the decision to approve the state of West Virginia’s attempt to delay by as much as 9 years its duty to set maximum pollution limits (“Total Maximum Daily Loads” or TMDLS) for 467 of the state’s most precious waterways and streams.

Columbus – Today, Sierra Club released a report from economist Ezra Hausman, Phd, that shows the Ohio legislature's coal bailout bill (HB 239 and SB 155) would cost customers up to $2 billion to keep two dirty coal-burning plants operating, which are not needed to serve Ohio customers.

Raleigh, N.C.Duke Energy sought approval yesterday to build 402 megawatts of additional fracked gas-fired capacity at the Lincoln County Combustion Turbine Station in Stanley. Built in 1995, the existing facility already includes 1,200 megawatts of generation capacity. The application for a certificate from the North Carolina Utilities Commission allowing construction to begin in 2018 and operation to commence in 2020 comes despite Duke’s acknowledgement that the region won’t need any new combustion turbines until 2025.
