The Administration is proposing outrageous cuts to departments and programs that fund state work to advance clean energy, protect air and water, and support low-income families. In 2018, the Department of Energy (DOE) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded nearly $44 billion to the states and Puerto Rico.

Houston, Texas -- The response to the #ITCFire petrochemical disaster has spawned a secondary toxic release. More than 130,000 gallons of toxic Class B fire fighting foams have been used to extinguish the chemical storage facility fire at the Intercontinental Terminal Company, combined with elevated levels of benzene that caused local authorities to issue a shelter-in-place order on Thursday.

Annapolis, M.D.--The Maryland Senate just passed the Clean Energy Jobs Act (CEJA). CEJA will accelerate the state’s Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard (RPS) to 50% by 2030, provide millions of dollars to workforce development programs, and remove a subsidy that currently goes to polluting trash incinerators.

Schuylkill, PA – On March 6, the Schuylkill Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution to transition the township to 100 percent renewable energy. By taking this action, Schuylkill becomes the seventh Chester county, and the 111th US municipality to establish this goal.

Days after Schuylkill’s commitment, Whitemarsh Township also adopted a 100 percent renewable resolution. Both resolutions aim to use 100 percent renewable sources for electricity by 2035, and for heating and transportation by 2050.
