Annapolis, M.D.--The Maryland General Assembly just passed the Clean Energy Jobs Act (CEJA) and has subsequently sent the bill to the Governor’s desk for signature. The bill will accelerate the state’s Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard (RPS) to 50% by 2030, including a huge leap in solar energy combined with quadrupling the state’s commitment to offshore wind. Additionally, the bill will provide millions of dollars to workforce development programs, and require the state to create a plan and complete a robust analysis in order to accomplish the goal of Maryland going 100% clean energy by 2040.

NEW YORK — The American Civil Liberties Union, Sierra Club, ACLU of Texas, and ACLU of Northern California filed a motion today to immediately stop the illegal construction of President Trump’s border wall. The plaintiffs in the case, the Sierra Club and the Southern Border Communities Coalition are asking the court to declare that Trump’s declaration of a national emergency is unconstitutional and unlawful.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Yesterday, the House Budget Committee advanced a budget plan which would raise the budget caps on discretionary spending for 2020 and 2021 by 5.7%, or $34 billion. The move is necessary to ward off the regressive sequester cuts that would slash federal support for critical public health, safety, and other programs by over $125 billion.
