Yuma/Columbus-- Today, the Department of Homeland Security announced thatin conjunction with its plans to build 80 miles of new and replacement border walls in Arizona and New Mexico, the agency will waive 32 laws to expedite wall construction. These include the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act and 29 other federal laws. With these new waivers, the Trump administration has now waived at least 38 laws on 9 different occasions for border wall and barrier construction.

Montana — Late Friday, a federal judge ruled that the Trump Administration’s Interior Department illegally lifted the moratorium placed on new coal mining leases on public lands. Sierra Club challenged the Interior Department’s 2017 action along with Center for Biological Diversity, Citizens for Clean Energy, Defenders of Wildlife, EcoCheyene, Montana Environmental Information Center, the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, and WildEarth Guardians -- all represented by Earthjustice.

Brookhaven, NY-- Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine (R – Center Moriches) signed a pledge today supporting the town to move to 100% clean, renewable energy across all sectors. With a population of 500,000, Brookhaven would become the largest municipality in the state to aim for 100% clean energy.

CARSON CITY, NV—Today, with a unanimous Assembly vote, the Nevada state legislature passed Senate Bill 358, a bill that ensures electricity providers meet of 50 percent of customer needs with renewable electricity statewide by 2030 and 100 percent clean energy by 2050.
The bill, first introduced in March, unanimously passed the state Senate earlier this week. It now heads to the desk of Governor Steve Sisolak to be signed into law.

Today, Nevada lawmakers approved legislation that will ensure the Silver State’s electricity providers meet at least 50 percent of customers’ energy needs with clean renewable
