The planned sale will target the coastal plain, the biological heart of the Arctic Refuge, home to lands and wildlife vital for the subsistence way of life of the Gwich’in Nation.

Baytown, TX -- A group of 22 Greenpeace protesters have formed a blockade on the Fred Hartman Bridge in Baytown, Texas, blocking the transport of oil and gas through the country’s largest fossil fuel thoroughfare for 24 hours.  

The action comes ahead of the third Democratic primary debate, happening tonight in Houston.

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation to keep drills out of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Introduced by Rep. Jared Huffman, the Arctic Cultural and Coastal Plain Protection Act would repeal a provision in the controversial December 2017 tax bill that opened up the refuge’s sensitive coastal plain for drilling. The bill passed 225-193 with bipartisan support.

Oscoda, MI-- Today, the Air Force’s Wurtsmith Restoration Advisory Board met in Oscoda to discuss environmental remediation plans at Wurtsmith Air Force Base-- a site highly contaminated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) due to the agency’s use of PFAS-based fire fighting foams. Community leaders called from the U.S. Air Force to clean up the PFAS contamination from the former Wurtsmith Air Force. PFAS is linked to ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, and certain cancers.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, the New York Times reported that the acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney told Commerce Secretary Wilbur L. Ross Jr. to have the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) publicly disavow a Birmingham NOAA forecasters’ position that Alabama was not in the path of Hurricane Dorian. Ross then called acting NOAA director Dr. Neil Jacobs, threatening to fire top employees at NOAA for correcting Trump’s inaccurate portrayal of Hurricane Dorian’s path wrongly including Alabama.
