WASHINGTON D.C.-- The White House released the President’s 2021 budget proposal today, confirming what was already widely known; that Donald Trump is the worst president in history for our environment and our health. This budget takes a torch to vital departments and agencies, including a devastating 26.5% cut to the EPA, as well as cuts to Interior, the Army Corp of Engineers, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Transportation, and massive cuts for programs at the Department of Energy outside of nuclear weapons and defense. Trump is looking to hit vulnerable border communities and ecosystems again with a request for $2B for his disastrous border wall. The cuts at the Department of Energy come in stark contrast to Congress GOP efforts to convince the public that they care about climate change by calling for innovation to combat climate change. This budget also claims that eliminating crucial tax credits credits for electric vehicles, among among other incentives, will generate $200B in savings, entirely ignoring the benefits of growing the clean energy economy or the savings that could instead be made from cutting fossil fuel subsidies.
