Great Falls, Mont. – Environmental and landowner groups today argued in federal court that the Trump administration’s rubber-stamp approval of a cross-border permit for the proposed Keystone XL pipeline violated environmental laws and should be vacated.

Richmond, VA -- Today, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals vacated the Incidental Take permit for the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. The permit, granted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, authorizes construction efforts to take certain threatened and endangered species. The permit  is required to construct the fracked gas pipeline, and with it being vacated, the project must be halted.

Washington, DC -- Today, the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals threw out Donald Trump’s attempts to let automakers off the hook for failing to meet fuel economy standards. The Sierra Club, along with a coalition of environmental groups and states, had sued the Trump administration for issuing a rule indefinitely delaying an increase in penalties for violations.

New York -- Today, a coalition of 40 environmental, labor, and transportation industry stakeholders in New York submitted a formal petition to the New York Public Service Commission calling for an Order Establishing a Separate Proceeding to Advance New York’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Market. The requested proceeding would promote a coordinated, proactive approach to New York’s EV initiatives and the petition also asks that New York’s utilities submit proposals to accelerate installation of EV charging infrastructure and EV customer education.

In their briefs, the groups laid out the reasons Enbridge should not be granted the permits to build this tar sands pipeline through Minnesota, and the threats it would pose to the state’s land, water, and communities, as well as our climate.
