PORTLAND, ME – After Conservation Law Foundation (CLF), Sierra Club, and others filed petitions with the state, Maine officials have begun the process of considering new rules designed to spur purchases of electric cars and trucks in the state. The draft standards call for 82 percent of vehicles sold in the state by 2032 to be electric.

AUGUSTA, ME – The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will consider two new clean vehicle standards that will provide Mainers with cleaner air and greater access to zero-emission cars and trucks. Adopting the standards, known as the Advanced Clean Cars II and Advanced Clean Trucks rules, will help meet the growing demand for electric vehicles and ensure Mainers have access to a greater number of models, helping to lower sticker prices and hasten the transition away from expensive and polluting gas-powered cars and trucks.

TRENTON, NJ — New Jersey can avoid up to 362 hospital visits and save drivers nearly $60 billion by transitioning to zero-emission electric cars and light-duty trucks, according to a new report. The New Jersey Advanced Clean Cars II Program report investigated the climate, health, and job benefits if the state were to adopt Advanced Clean Cars II, a program which, by 2035, would require that every new car and light-duty truck sold in New Jersey be zero-emission. The report was prepared by ERM and commissioned by NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) and the Sierra Club.

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, the Environmental Protection Agency announced $400 million in grants for the Clean School Bus Program, which offers funding for school districts to replace dirty diesel buses and transition to cleaner school bus fleets. The Clean School Bus program is a part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act passed in 2021. The program is funded for five years and will distribute over $5 billion to get cleaner school buses on roads.
