COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio House of Representatives just passed House Bill 114, which is eerily similar to legislation vetoed by Governor Kasich in December 2016. The legislation dramatically weakens utility requirements to conduct energy efficiency programs, which have been proven to provide big savings for customers, while also making renewable energy requirements completely voluntary.

OAKLAND, Calif. - Anheuser-Busch InBev today announced its commitment to transition to 100 percent renewable energy by 2025. AB InBev is now the largest beer maker in the world to commit to powering all of its electricity with clean, renewable energy sources like wind and solar.

Boston, MA - The Boston metropolitan area created more than 2.300 new jobs in the state’s growing solar industry last year, according to a report released today by The Solar Foundation. The Boston area is now home to 12,487 solar jobs, an increase of 24% from 2015 figures. The findings highlight the enormous jobs potential for a transition to 100 percent clean and renewable energy in Boston, as well as the opportunity for Mayor Walsh to be a leader on creating more family-sustaining, union jobs in a growing industry across the region.

As a new report released today revealed that Indiana has more jobs in the solar industry than in coal mining, President Trump signed an executive order to begin repealing the landmark Clean Power Plan, which would incentivize more clean energy job growth in America.

ABITA SPRINGS, La. – The Abita Springs Town Council today approved a resolution establishing a community-wide goal of transitioning to 100 percent clean and renewable energy by 2030. Abita Springs represents the first city or town in Louisiana to commit to 100 percent renewable energy and the 24th city across the United States to make such a commitment.

MADISON, Wisc. -  Today, the Madison Common Council formally approved the city’s commitment to transition to 100 percent clean, renewable energy across all sectors including electricity, heating, and transportation. Madison represents the first city in Wisconsin and the biggest city in the Midwest to make a community-wide 100 percent clean energy commitment.

Baltimore, M.D. —In conjunction with an act from the House of Delegates last week, the Maryland State Senate voted today to support energy efficiency and codify the Public Service Commission’s (PSC) updates to the EmPOWER Maryland program. The 2008 EmPOWER Maryland legislation established landmark energy efficiency targets and programs through 2015 with huge successes in energy efficiency services like appliance and lighting rebates, home energy checkups and behavior-based energy saving programs.

Baltimore, M.D. —After a month of action from the Maryland House of Delegates and the State Senate, the Public Service Commission’s (PSC) updates to the EmPOWER Maryland program became law today despite not being signed by Governor Hogan. The legislation, a natural extension of the 2008 legislation of the PSC’s July 2015 Order, will ensure the state continues its energy efficiency investments by requiring utilities to reduce electricity usage 2 percent annually by 2020.
