In the most recent of the six State of the State addresses scheduled throughout the week, Governor Cuomo announced to a Long Island audience today that New York is committed to building 2,400 megawatts (MW) of offshore wind power by 2030 – enough to power 1.25 million homes.

WASHINGTON DC – The states participating in the 2016-17 Program Review of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) hosted the first meeting of the year today to determine the future course of carbon pollution reductions in the region. Representatives from the nine participating states, and key stakeholder groups, discussed the latest assumptions for modeling of scenarios for reducing carbon pollution limits 2.5 to 3.5 percent annually from 2020 to 2030, along with other changes to the program’s structure.

Baltimore, M.D. —In conjunction with the House of Delegates earlier this week, the Maryland State Senate voted today to override Governor Hogan’s veto of the Clean Energy Jobs Act. The bill, which was vetoed last May, will increase and accelerate the state’s Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) requirement from 20 percent by 2022 to 25 percent by 2020 ensuring more homes and businesses benefit from renewable energy across the state and region.
