Washington, DC - Today, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the final round of funding for the Inflation Reduction Act’s Green and Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP), marking the delivery of more than $1.4 billion to provide clean, energy-efficient housing upgrades for low-income communities, veterans, and people with disabilities.

Through twelve funding rounds, HUD’s GRRP funding provided grants and loans “to support energy efficiency and protect residents and affordable housing from natural hazards in more than 4,700 homes” across 42 states, Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico.

In response, Sierra Club Deputy Legislative Director for Clean Energy and Electrification Xavier Boatright released the following statement:

“The Inflation Reduction Act broadly, and the Green and Resilient Retrofit Program specifically, has offered a needed buoy to help families prioritize and afford safe, clean, resilient homes. Everyone benefits when we invest in green housing upgrades, especially for the most marginalized groups amongst us. Ensuring all of the funds are disbursed before President Biden wraps up his term is a notable accomplishment that will benefit the recipients and safeguard a vital part of the president's legacy that will pay dividends beyond the next administration.”
