Sierra Club Response to Tonight’s Presidential Debate

Philadelphia, PA – Tonight, Vice President Kamala Harris faced convicted felon Donald Trump in the only debate that will be held between the two candidates before the presidential election.

Sierra Club National Political Director Sarah Burton released the following statement:

“The stakes in this election were on full display tonight, with one candidate offering an ambitious vision for a clean energy future and the other spouting incoherent lies and conspiracy theories. Donald Trump was a disaster for the climate and clean air and water, and - if his promises to corporate polluters in exchange for campaign donations are any indication - a second term would be even worse. At this critical moment for our climate, we can’t afford to let him claw back the progress the Biden-Harris administration has made in the last four years in order to pad the pockets of fossil fuel executives. The contrast between these two candidates couldn’t be more stark, and the Sierra Club will continue to work hard to elect Kamala Harris to protect and build on that progress to build the clean energy future we need.”
